Rain, Rock and ‘Divorced Dad Rock’: Hinder at the NYS Fair

By Renee Clark Quade

Rainy, chilly weather didn’t keep Hinder fans away from Chevy Court at the Great New York State Fair on Monday, August 31. By the time the rock band took the stage, the crowd was ready to rock, and the weather hardly seemed to matter.

Hinder leaned into their self-described “divorced dad rock” reputation, even selling shirts with the tongue-in-cheek phrase, while mixing familiar hits with newer material. The band seemed to be having just as much fun as the crowd, spending plenty of time smiling, pointing to fans and interacting with the audience throughout the set.

Despite the rain, fans sang along, rocked out and stayed engaged from start to finish. It was a cold and wet afternoon at the Fair, but judging by the crowd at Chevy Court, Hinder gave them plenty of reason to forget about the weather.
