Finnish rockers The Rasmus just dropped their new single, “Rest In Pieces,” on Better Noise Music and Playground Music. Known for their melodic yet edgy sound, The Rasmus maintains their signature intensity while exploring darker, rawer emotional themes in this track. The release heralds the beginning of a new chapter for the band, who have been making waves in the music world for over 30 years.

A Story of Betrayal and Resilience in “Rest In Pieces”

In an unfiltered, passionate statement, frontman Lauri Ylönen explains the inspiration behind “Rest In Pieces,” describing it as a “fuck you song” born from the sting of betrayal. “This all started very organically,” he says. “The story behind the music is that I was betrayed by a friend. I was sad and pissed off at the same time. I wanted to channel my frustration into the music and create what I call a ‘fuck you song’ for revenge.” This personal story is vividly captured in lyrics such as:

“Your graceful words only made me hurt
From friends to enemies, no matter how I tried
I swear my head won’t turn
As the bridges burn
Soaked in gasoline
All memories must die.”

The single’s artwork underscores this powerful theme, featuring an image of a woman winking at the camera, her long nails prominently displayed as she gives the middle finger. It’s a bold, fitting visual that captures the track’s raw intensity and unapologetic message of empowerment through letting go.

New Label Partnerships and a Global Stage

The Rasmus recently signed a joint record deal with Better Noise Music and Playground Music, solidifying a partnership that brings together expertise in both the Nordic and global markets. Playground Music’s CEO, Mårten Aglander, praises The Rasmus for their relentless dedication, while Dan Waite, CEO of Better Noise Music, emphasizes the excitement around their upcoming releases. “The Rasmus elicit a strong, warm, and positive response from everyone we talk to,” he says, hinting at big plans for the future.

Upcoming “Weirdo” Tour 2025

In addition to the single release, The Rasmus announced their “Weirdo” global tour, kicking off the European leg on September 12, 2025, and running through December 6. “It’s been a while since we went on tour, so we’re really excited to be heading out all over the world in 2025,” shares Ylönen. “It’s shaping up to be a massive tour…we’re like family.”

This tour marks a long-awaited return to the live stage for The Rasmus, known for their energetic performances that capture their unique blend of rock, pop, and metal.
