If there’s one thing Luke Bryan knows how to do, it’s throw a party.
From the moment he stepped on stage at CMAC on Wednesday, August 26, the country superstar had the crowd singing, dancing, and having a whole lot of fun. Hit after hit kept the night moving, with plenty of laughs, beers flying into the crowd, and even a giant margarita making its way into the hands of fans. Somehow, Bryan managed to turn a Wednesday night into a full-blown country party.
Before Bryan took the stage, the crowd got a taste of several rising country artists who brought plenty of energy of their own.
Lauren Watkins kicked off the night with “I’ll Get Through” and quickly settled into the stage. She showed off a powerful voice while keeping things fun and relaxed, dedicating one song to the girls in the audience before asking where all the heartbreakers were. She didn’t have to look far before pointing at herself and launching into “Heartbreakaholic.”
Watkins also took a moment to talk about how beautiful the area was before picking up a guitar for one of her songs. She wrapped up her set with “Stuck in My Ways” and thanked everyone who showed up early to catch her performance. Even her band was leaning into the country look, with everyone except the drummer sporting matching cowboy hats.
Lanie Gardner followed with a little more rock attitude. She opened with “You Ain’t My Daddy” and quickly got the crowd involved with “Buzzkill,” which she called her favorite song from her album. Gardner had some fun with the audience when she asked how many Miranda Lambert fans were in the house, turning the question into a full-on singalong to “Little Red Wagon.” She kept things moving with “Daughter of a Gun” before closing with “Taking a Slow Ride.”
Then came Drew Baldridge, who wasted no time turning up the energy. His dramatic entrance had the crowd ready to go, and he leaned into some nostalgic country favorites, including Tim McGraw’s “Something Like That” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
Baldridge wasn’t done with the throwbacks. He called on the country ladies in the audience before launching into Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” He also opened up about his faith before performing “Rebel” and shared a message about making it through hard times, reminding the crowd that “tough times can make some tough people.”
He later told the story behind “Someone’s Daughter,” a song he and his wife sent out to radio stations that went on to rack up millions of views. His message to the women in the crowd was simple: know your worth.
Then the lights went down for Luke Bryan, who opened with “That’s My Kind of Night.” It didn’t take long for the entire crowd to join in. “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” followed, with Bryan picking up a guitar before moving into “Move.”
For much of the night, Bryan made his way around the stage, constantly finding ways to connect with the fans. He waved, pointed, smiled, and soaked in their reactions. When “Beer in My Hand” came around, that interaction got a little more literal as he started tossing beers into the crowd.
Because of course he did.
“Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” and his new single “Country Song” kept things moving before Bryan changed the pace and brought the show down to just him and his guitar.
Honestly, this was one of the best parts of the night.
Bryan asked the crowd if they were okay with it being just him and his guitar before settling into “Roller Coaster,” “Drunk on You,” “Drink a Beer,” “Do I” and “Strip It Down.” Without the larger production surrounding him, there was more room for the songs to take center stage, while the stripped-down portion of the show also gave Bryan’s band members their own moments in the spotlight, with solos from the keyboardist, banjo player, and guitarist.
One of the most memorable moments came when Bryan performed Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” He followed it with “Drink a Beer,” turning the moment into a tribute to Parton. After finishing the song, Bryan cracked open a beer and took a drink in her honor before removing his hat and turning toward the screen.
It was a simple moment, but it stood out.
Then it was right back to the party.
“Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset, Repeat” had Bryan joking with the crowd about being there on a Wednesday night and calling them “pretty country.” He picked up his guitar again before giving his band another chance to shine.
“Knockin’ Boots” brought the crowd back into full party mode. Bryan asked who was wearing boots, danced across the stage, shook his butt, and seemed to be having just as much fun with the audience as they were having with him.
Then came “One Margarita,” complete with Bryan handing a GIANT margarita to a fan.
Because apparently one beer wasn’t enough.
“Rain Is a Good Thing” showed off Bryan’s signature growl, while “Kick the Dust Up” added fog to the stage. By the time “Play It Again” rolled around, there wasn’t much left to do except sing along.
The night closed with “A Night to Remember,” sending the crowd into the final song jumping, dancing and singing along. And really, that’s what a Luke Bryan show is all about.
Of course, there were the massive hits fans came to hear, but the little moments made the night feel personal: Bryan walking around the stage, joking with the crowd, throwing beers, handing out margaritas, picking up his guitar and giving his band members room to show off their talents. He didn’t just perform for the crowd. He played with them.
Luke Bryan brought the hits, the humor, and the country party, giving fans exactly what they came for and a Wednesday night they won’t soon forget.
