On August 22nd, Day 2 of the NY State Fair didn’t disappoint, as rock legend Ace Frehley, formerly of KISS, took to the stage and delivered a high-energy performance that had fans buzzing all evening. With a setlist packed with his solo originals and iconic KISS hits, Frehley proved that his passion for rock ‘n’ roll is as fiery as ever.
The night kicked off with some of Frehley’s songs from KISS with “Shock Me,” and Deuce.” Then Frehley dived into playing some of solo work, including his new song “Cherry Medicine” and the anthemic “Rock Soldiers.”
Then Frehley circled back to more KISS classics and the energy truly skyrocketed. The familiar riffs of “Love Gun” and “Detroit Rock City” brought a wave of nostalgia over the audience, with die-hard KISS fans singing along to every word. A special highlight of the evening was when bassist Ryan Cook took over the vocals for “Detroit Rock City,” adding a fresh twist to the beloved track.
Throughout the set, Frehley’s band brought an infectious enthusiasm to the stage, engaging with fans and ensuring everyone was having a blast. Their chemistry within the band was amazing, showcasing not just technical skill but a genuine friendship that made the performance feel like a celebration of rock music. Frehley and his band clearly share a deep bond, and it was evident in every note they played.
The audience, filled with long-time KISS devotees and new fans alike, soaked up every minute of the show. As the set came to a close, there was no doubt that Ace Frehley and his band had rocked the NY State Fair, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to see this rock legend in action.
