Morgan Wallen rolled into Touch of Texas in Binghamton, NY, on March 9, 2018, for a stop on his Up Down Tour, his first headlining run. The crowd was still small as he’s just starting to make a name for himself, but everyone there got to see a glimpse of why he’s quickly gaining fans.
From the first note, Wallen was all smiles and seemed genuinely happy to be on stage. He made eye contact with fans as much as he could and had this easy, approachable vibe that made the show feel personal.
He played a mix of originals like “Boots on the Ground,” “The Way I Talk,” “Little Rain,” “Whiskey Glasses,” and “Up Down,” and threw in a few covers to keep things interesting. There was an Eric Church cover, “Smoke a Little Smoke,” plus a mash-up medley that jumped from Linkin Park to Bon Jovi, Kings of Leon, Fall Out Boy, and Def Leppard. Totally unexpected, totally fun.
Even in a small room, Wallen’s voice and energy filled the space, making it easy to see why bigger crowds are on the horizon.
