Shaggy Brings Record-Breaking Crowd and Nonstop Energy to the New York State Fair

By Renee Clark Quade

Shaggy’s first-ever performance at the New York State Fair on August 31, 2025, turned into one of the most talked-about concerts of the summer. An estimated 48,000 fans showed up, making it the third-largest crowd in fair history.

The Grammy-winning reggae icon kept the momentum high with a set packed with fan favorites, including Boombastic, and wrapped the night with a massive sing-along to It Wasn’t Me. Between the hits, his signature humor, and the lively atmosphere, the fairgrounds felt more like an open-air dance hall than a concert venue.
