Dustin Lynch Concert Review: A Hell of a Night at the New York State Fair

By Renee Clark Quade

Dustin Lynch took over the Chevy Suburban Park stage at the New York State Fair on August 29, 2025, turning a late summer Friday into one big country party. He kicked things off on a riser with his guitar in hand for Hell of a Night. When the song wrapped, he tossed his guitar to his tech and claimed his spot front and center, setting the tone for what was ahead.

Next up was Seein’ Red, with the entire stage glowing in crimson light. The hits rolled in quickly, from Where It’s At to Tequila on a Boat. Before Workin’ on You, Lynch paused to say the song is all about saving up for a night like this and thanked fans for making it possible.

The night brought more than just music. During Chevrolet, which he called his forever “summer of 2024” song, a couple in the crowd got engaged. Lynch stopped to acknowledge it, congratulated them, and then moved into Easy to Love, telling the crowd it was the perfect moment since the song is about wanting to settle down, too.

His easygoing humor carried throughout the set. Before covering T-R-O-U-B-L-E, he asked if it was alright to have a drink. When the crowd shouted yes, he called his assistant Lindsay out with shots in bright orange solo cups for him, the band, and a few lucky fans in the front row. Later, he warned the ladies that deer season was almost here and told the story of how his buddy married into a family with a big farm. That led into Huntin’ Land, where he laughed through the chorus, called it a true story, and gave his band a chance to shine with solos.

The pace slowed with heartfelt moments too. Momma’s House and Cowboys and Angels gave the night some emotional weight. Before Cowboys and Angels, Lynch shared that he wrote it about his grandparents. Photos of them appeared on the screen behind him, including a shot from when they stood with him at his first Opry performance. He thanked the New York State Police for visiting and gifting him a hat, then asked fans to think of someone they loved and lost during the third verse.

Other highlights included Good Girl, which he said is his mom’s favorite, and She Cranks My Tractor, where he joked it was the dumbest song he ever wrote. He worked in a cover of The Chicks’ Goodbye Earl, gave the crowd sing-along moments with Stars Like Confetti, and closed with Small Town Boy.

By the end of the night, Lynch had given the crowd exactly what he promised. The show mixed the party, the laughter, and the heartfelt moments that make a concert unforgettable. The New York State Fair got one hell of a night.
