On May 29th, The Exies took the stage at the Viper Room in LA for their highly anticipated sold-out reunion show. Fans started lining up hours before doors opened, eager to secure a good spot for what promised to be a memorable night.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as fans from across the country gathered, many meeting in person for the first time after years of connecting online. The sense of community and shared anticipation was undeniable, setting the stage for an extraordinary evening.

Music industry DJ and former MTV host Matt Pinfield kicked off the show with a heartfelt introduction, a fitting start given his early support of the band. The Viper Room, the very place where The Exies were signed, provided a nostalgic backdrop for this special reunion.

The band opened with “My Goddess,” and frontman Scott Stevens, donning aviators, exuded confidence and ease on stage. It was clear he was back where he belonged. A standout moment came when Stevens paused for a guitar solo with bassist Freddy Herrera, their chemistry and brotherlike friendship evident as they smiled and jammed together.

Original guitarist Chris Skane returned for this show, bringing an infectious energy that amplified the performance. With his laser-focused precision, Drummer Dennis Wolf kept the beat flawlessly all night, underscoring the band’s tightness despite their long hiatus.

Every member sounded impeccable, a testament to their dedication and hard work. The years apart melted away as they played, their connection as musicians stronger than ever. Fans sang along passionately to every song, and their love for the band reciprocated in every note played.

A highlight was the live debut of “Stray,” a special treat for die-hard fans, paired with their newer single “Spirits High,” which felt like a continuation of “Stray.” Stevens, visibly emotional at times, maintained his composure, expressing his gratitude and joy at reconnecting with the fans.

In a touching moment, Steven’s mother watched proudly from the front row. Herrera’s high-energy antics, flipping his bass and engaging with the crowd, were a delight, adding to the lively atmosphere.

The setlist was a well-balanced mix of old favorites, culminating in an unforgettable night. After the show, the band greeted fans, sharing warm and intimate moments that will be cherished for a lifetime.

The evening was a trip down memory lane, filled with nostalgia and the creation of new memories. Fans bonded over their shared love for The Exies, and the band felt the impact of their music on so many lives.

This reunion show was more than just a performance; it was a long-awaited celebration for both the band and their loyal fans. The Exies expressed their deep appreciation for everyone who traveled to be there, and there’s hope this night will lead to more shows in the future. For now, we revel in the joy of seeing them perform together again, a night that will remain etched in our hearts.
