LeAnn Rimes Delights Fans at Live Performance at Del Lago Casino

Photos and Review by Renee Clark Quade

LeAnn Rimes made an unforgettable return to the del Lago Casino in Waterloo on Saturday as part of her “the story…so far” tour in support of her upcoming album “god’s work,” set to release on September 16th. The Grammy award-winning artist performed in a cozy setting filled with candles and a comfy carpet for her bare feet. Rimes began her set behind the piano and sang a beautifully stripped-down version of “Remnants,” followed by “Muleskinner Blues,” during which she shared a heartwarming story about learning how to yodel on the back of a parade float.

Rimes’ setlist reflected her 25-year career and included hits such as “Life Goes On,” “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,” and “How Do I Live.” She also performed songs from her upcoming album, including “the only,” recorded with Ziggy Marley, Ledisi, and Ben Harper, and “how much a heart can hold,” a song she wrote for her husband on their wedding day.

The most emotional part of her set was during the encore when Rimes performed an acoustic version of “Young Love” and “There Goes My Hero” in honor of the late Naomi Judd from The Judds and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. It was a touching moment that left many in the audience in tears.

Throughout her set, Rimes radiated joy and happiness, which was contagious to everyone in the audience. Her tour continues this weekend in Arizona, Texas, and Oklahoma, and fans can pre-order her upcoming album “god’s work” now.
